LIGHTHOUSES OF BRITISH COLUMBIA:

How to Become a Lightkeeper in BC

Lightkeepers are employed by the Canadian Coast Guard to serve at the various lightstations on the BC coast.

The Department of Fisheries and Oceans advertises positions for new Assistant Lightkeepers at www.jobs.gc.ca.
Select "British Columbia" then click the "Start the Search" button. Look for "Assistant Lightkeeper" in the results.
Applicants must be Canadian citizens. Lightkeepers at the most remote lightstations start at the high end of the
advertised pay scale while lightkeepers at more easily accessible lightstations start lower on the pay scale.
